United Way Pushing Toward 2011 Fundraising Goal

December 7, 2011 8:24 AM | News

With only a few weeks remaining in 2011, it’s crunch time for the United Way of Winnipeg to reach its annual fundraising goal.

Almost $2.4 million still needs to be raised to help fund social programs and resources in the city.

“There are so many positive things happening in Winnipeg right now: the return of the NHL, the new Bomber stadium, Assiniboine Park renewal and the Human Rights Museum,” said campaign chair Edward Kennedy. “None of these would be possible if Winnipeggers didn’t believe in the future of our city. We’re counting on that same commitment, passion and compassion to make sure we keep the doors open and lights on at all our agency partners who are working to keep kids off the street and are creating safer, stronger communities.”

The United Way’s goal is $19.7 million, as revealed during its September campaign launch.

Donations can be made by calling (204) 477-5360, by visiting 580 Main Street weekdays between 8:45 a.m. and 4:45 p.m., or online at UnitedWayWinnipeg.mb.ca.
