The province is inviting the public to celebrate the holiday season Saturday at the Manitoba Legislative Building’s annual open house.
Premier Greg Selinger and other MLAs will greet the public between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
The Blue Room, the lieutenant-governor’s formal reception room, will be open for viewing and the government caucus room, the opposition caucus room, the Liberal office, the Legislative Reading Room and the clerk of the legislative assembly’s office will be open to visitors.
Several activities have been planned for children in Room 254, with face painting, arts and crafts, a clown, magicians, and a visit from Santa Claus at 1:30 p.m. on the Grand Staircase.
Local school choir groups will perform, as well as the Air Command Band and VoxAir vocal quartet performing as wandering carollers.
Those attending are asked to bring a non-perishable food item or unwrapped toy for the Christmas Cheer Board. Donations are also being collected for the United Way’s Koats for Kids program.
