Dare to Jump into a Cold Manitoba Lake?

December 9, 2011 7:14 AM | News

Think you’re brave enough to face the cold in nothing but a swimsuit?

The 2012 Polar Bear Dare will help raise funds for Sport Manitoba, while brave participants jump into frigid Manitoba water.

The event will be held Saturday, February 25 in Lac du Bonnet, co-hosted by Dr. Gordon Giesbrecht, aka Professor Popsicle, from the University of Manitoba.

There are three ways to raise funds for the chilly cause:

  1. Accept the dare and agree to fundraiser for KidSport through the solicitation of donations.
  2. Dare another person, such as a friend, family member or co-worker, to jump into the lake. If he/she accepts the challenge, they will decide on a minimum sum to raise in order to jump.
  3. Dare one another. The person who raises the least amount of pledges gets to jump.
