Twelve Charged with Drunk Driving in Checkstop Blitz

The first week of the Winnipeg police festive checkstop program has resulted in 12 individuals being charged with impaired driving.

Police released the statistics Thursday, saying since the program launched on December 6, 509 vehicles have been stopped.

Week one numbers:

  • 56 drivers were given breathalyzer tests
  • 11 had their licences suspended for 24 hours
  • 3 warrants were executed
Manitoba RCMP released figures from their own checkstop program on Tuesday.
