Ontario Man Charged with Importing Prohibited Weapons

A 66-year-old man is facing several weapons-related charges after allegedly trying to import prohibited firearms into Canada.

The suspect from Rainy River, Ontario was detained December 20, 2011 at about 11:35 a.m. by Canada Border Service Agency (CBSA) officers at the Sprague Port of entry.

Investigation by Steinbach RCMP revealed the man had failed to declare importing a prohibited firearm into Canada. He is also facing five other firearms-related offences.

The man was released from custody and is to appear in court on February 2 in Steinbach. His name wasn’t released.
