Thrill-seeking Winnipeggers will have the chance to compete against the world’s top ice cross downhill athletes in Quebec City later this winter.

Red Bull Crashed Ice is accepting online registrations for the competition, where 200 men and 20 women will be randomly selected to participate in one of 13 qualifying events held across Canada.

The competition will consist of individual speed trials on a traditional ice-hockey surface. The top participants from each qualifier who demonstrate the best speed, skill, agility, and strength will earn a spot to battle to the bottom of the monolithic course in Quebec City.

Registration is open until January 26, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. ET. The top overall scores will identify the best of the best who will advance to the final competition on March 15-17, 2012.

A qualifying event will be held February 4 in Winnipeg at CanIan Ice Sports.
