Shots Fired into Home on Norway House Cree Nation

January 8, 2012 8:43 PM | News

A shooting on the Norway House Cree Nation Saturday night sent two people, including a three-year-old boy, to hospital.

RCMP say at about 11:30 p.m. a man knocked on the door of a residence while wearing winter clothing covering his face. He produced a firearm after the 23-year-old male resident opened the door, quickly shutting it in the face of the suspect. A number of shots were fired through the closed door, striking the resident and his child in the lower body.

Both victims were taken to hospital in Winnipeg with non-life threatening injuries.

No arrests have been made in the incident and police continue to investigate with the help of the RCMP forensic and major crimes units.
