A new fitness studio in Winnipeg held its grand opening Saturday, specializing in group fitness formats for women.
PoleFit Canada opened at 2-2609 Portage Avenue, offering classes suitable for everyone regardless of age, shape, size or fitness ability.
Last year, the Winnipeg-based company was on CBC’s “Dragons’ Den,” seeking $35,000 to open its first location.

“Women don’t always have the opportunity to connect with other like minded women,” said Carolyne Braid, president of PoleFit Canada. “In addition to offering great fitness classes and party formats, we have created a community where women can come together; where women know they are not alone; where they can let their hair down, explore their sensual side and be themselves.”
A characteristic of the feminine studio encourages clients to engage about how they’re feeling on any given day. A whiteboard with the words, “Today I Am…” invites clients to finish the statement and has led to great conversations with fellow women.
“One of the greatest rewards is hearing about students who have met in our classes who then connect outside of the studio,” Baird said.
