Speed, Alcohol Blamed in Fatal Snowmobile Crash

January 16, 2012 12:53 PM | News

An early morning snowmobile crash over the weekend has killed a 21-year-old man.

RCMP say the fatal collision happened Sunday at about 4 a.m. in Thicket Portage, Manitoba. Both the man and a 23-year-old woman were operating the snowmobile when it lost control, throwing the pair off the vehicle.

The woman was treated for non-life threatening injuries, while the man was pronounced deceased at the local nursing station. His name isn’t being released.

According to police, neither of the two were wearing helmets at the time, and speed and alcohol are believed to be factors.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
