Students at Gordon Bell High School will stage a pep rally today, thanking donors for their support in helping to develop a recreational green space.
Donors will present giant cheques ranging from $40 to $25,000 to student representatives. The donations will go towards installation of a field turf, instead of sod, as well as a stage, cross country loop, prairie plant gallery and outdoor classroom.
The land adjacent to the school faces Portage Avenue and was previously sold to Manitoba Education by Canada Post. The project still needs to raise an additional $1.5 million to be complete. Donations to date have come from private citizens, foundations and a Winnipeg private school whose Grade 8 students raised money in
support of Gordon Bell.
The pep rally is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. at 3 Borrowman Place.
