Graphic design students from Red River College will begin creating original works of art at The Forks this weekend.
The students will set up their art easels as part of The Forks Market’s 10th Annual Art Festival & Auction on Saturday and Sunday.
“This began as a way for the students to stretch their skills and showcase some of the amazing talent we have in Winnipeg,” said event producer Mo Razik, who also owns Fenton’s Wine Merchants. “It has become both a spectator event and art auction at the same time, with the students creating almost as popular as the auction itself. The calibre is phenomenal.”
Once complete, the art will be auctioned off in support of Winnipeg Harvest and the students’ own graduating class.
The art show will run from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Sunday. Comedian Jon Ljungberg will auction off the original artwork from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
