A 34-year-old Grand Marais man died early Sunday morning after the snowmobile he was driving collided with a tree.
The accident happened shortly after midnight on the North Star Trail about 16 kilometres into the bush off Highway 59 near Belair, Manitoba.
RCMP say efforts by volunteer firefighters and civilians to revive the man were unsuccessful and he was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim’s name isn’t being released.
Speed and alcohol haven’t been ruled out as being contributing factors. No one else was involved in the crash.
