Renowned artist Norman Rockwell will be the centre of a new solo exhibition at the Winnipeg Art Gallery in March.
“American Chronicles: The Art of Norman Rockwell” will feature more than 40 major paintings, the complete set of 323 Saturday Evening Post tear-sheet covers, and a group of rarely seen preparatory works and artifacts — all from the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.
“This historic touring exhibition is the first ever major retrospective of Rockwell’s paintings in Canada,” said Stephen Borys, WAG’s director. “The show is attracting significant crowds on its American circuit, such as at the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh, which saw over 106,000 visitors.”
The exhibition will open March 2 and continue until May 20.
Admission is $6 for WAG members, $18 for adults, $16 for students/seniors (60+), and $40 for a family (up to 2 adults and 4 children under 18), while children under five are free.
