A 28-year-old Brandon man is facing charges after allegedly leading police on a chase near Ninette, Manitoba.

RCMP say on January 26 a late 1990’s Chevrolet pickup truck was stopped shortly before 9:30 p.m. in a rural area. As officers approached the vehicle, it took off heading westbound on Highway 23. The vehicle continued to drive erratically onto a gravel road, when it lost control, entered a wooded ravine and struck a tree.

The driver and a 16-year-old male passenger were taken to hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries and released.

The driver was arrested and is facing charges related to impaired driving, flight from police and obstruction of police in the execution of their duties. He was released and will appear in court in April.
