Hundreds of seniors across the country began participating in the 2012 All Seniors Care Seniors Games on Monday.

From Edmonton to Winnipeg, and even in Gatineau, Quebec, 16 retirement residences are taking place in  the games, which include playing Nintendo Wii, bocce, board games and just plain walking to keep active. The third annual event is a way to ensure seniors are keeping their minds and bodies healthy.

“The Games are part of our commitment to provide seniors with innovative ways to maintain an active and vibrant lifestyle,” said Joshua Kuhl of Operations for All Seniors Care. “We believe strongly in helping people stay active by providing a venue for active living, especially in a friendly and caring social setting.”

The games run until February 10.
