A 23-year-old Elie man has died after he fell off an SUV while riding on the outside early Saturday morning.
RCMP say the accident happened at about 3 a.m. on Provincial Road 248 in Elie. The man was riding on the outside of a Ford Escape heading northbound at the time, and suffered severe injuries as a result of the fall. He was previously listed in grave condition in a Winnipeg hospital before succumbing to his injuries on Sunday.
The 29-year-old Elie man driving the SUV has been arrested and will face impaired driving charges causing death, as well as failing to remain at the scene of an accident. He will appear in a Winnipeg court March 19. His name hasn’t been released.
RCMP are continuing to investigate.
