Quarterback Alex Brink will return for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the 2012 season.

The third-year pivot played in eight games last season, including making two starts, and completed 89 of 140 pass attempts for 1,023 yards and five touchdowns against four interceptions while also serving as the team’s quarterback during short-yardage situations. He recorded 148 rushing yards and six touchdowns on the ground last season.

“I am very happy about returning to the Blue Bombers where I am surrounded by great teammates and coaches,” Brink said in a statement. “The opportunity I have in Winnipeg is one I’m excited to be a part of and will allow me to continue to get better as a quarterback in the CFL.”

The Oregon native was a former seventh round draft of the Houston Texans in 2008 and originally signed with the Blue Bombers in 2010, where he made one start during his rookie season.
