MTS Iceplex (STAN MILOSEVIC / MANITOBAPHOTOS.COM)
A new goalie training centre at the MTS Iceplex will open today, featuring the largest ice surface for goalie training in Manitoba.
True North Sports and Entertainment will open the MTS IceLab, which will include the latest hockey technology to provide goaltenders with instant visual feedback.
Goalies will now be able to go home and watch all their video from the lab, thanks to the latest technology from Dartfish biomechanical. The IceLab has an overall score after each session and provides a lifetime average of scores for all lessons. Each lesson is archived and provided to each student at the end of five sessions. The IceLab also provides 360-degree feedback to enhance the learning experience and expedite the developmental process.
The public is invited to attend the grand opening from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. All attendees are asked to enter the MTS Iceplex through the west side of the facility where the new IceLab is located. Winnipeg Jets goaltending coach, Wade Flaherty, will be on hand from 4:20 p.m. to 5 p.m. to test out the new equipment and speak with fans.
