Frigid Polar Bear Dare Fundraising for Sport Manitoba

February 24, 2012 7:24 AM | News

Several brave souls won’t let this weekend’s predicted chilly temperatures deter them from jumping into a frigid lake.

The 2012 Polar Bear Dare on Saturday will help raise funds for Sport Manitoba as participants jump off the town dock in Lac du Bonnet.

Some may compare the event to a traditional polar bear swim, but that’s where things differ. The twist is participants dare another person to take the plunge if an agreed upon minimum amount of funds are raised.

Dr. Gordon Giesbrecht, aka Professor Popsicle from the University of Manitoba, will co-host the event.
