A Manitoba Bisons football running back will grace the pages of Sports Illustrated in its upcoming February 27 issue.
Anthony Coombs will be the first University of Manitoba student-athlete to be included in the magazine’s 56-year history. Coombs will be in the Faces in the Crowd section of the leading sports publication, honouring talented amateur athletes.
“This is crazy and unreal,” the 19-year-old said in a release. “To be in such a prestigious magazine where other great athletes have been profiled in the past in Faces in the Crowd is pretty cool and I am still trying to process this. I am honoured and can’t wait to pick up a copy!”
Coombs’ headshot and write-up will highlight his recent MVP performance at the International Bowl.
SI will also post the feature online.
