April 11 will be known as the Day of Pink across Manitoba when the Canadian Red Cross and RBC Royal Bank launch an anti-bullying initiative in schools across the province.
Thousands of students will wear pink shirts to draw attention to the initiative and show they are standing up against bullying.
Day of Pink began after two high school students in Nova Scotia asked their peers to wear pink shirts to school to help another peer who had been bullied for wearing pink. Since that time, it’s spread across the country, where the Red Cross took notice to bring the initiative to Manitoba.
Schools can register at RedCross.ca/DayofPink by March 16 to order 150 free pink T-shirts.
