Starting pitcher Chris Salamida has been re-signed to the Winnipeg Goldeyes for the 2012 season.

The team announced Wednesday the 27-year-old would be returning for a third season after becoming one of two pitchers in franchise history to win 10 games or more in back-to-back seasons.

“We are excited to have Chris back,” manager Rick Forney said. “He turned into one of the top left-handed starting pitchers in our league last season. He’s certainly gained a lot of confidence and knowledge of what he needs to do to succeed out there. We expect much of the same from what we had last season.”

Salamida joins Ace Walker and Matt Rusch in Winnipeg’s starting rotation for 2012.

The Goldeyes now have 13 players signed for the 2012 season, including six pitchers and seven position players.
