Winnipeg police investigate a collision repair business on Thursday after explosive material was found during an early morning fire (STAN MILOSEVIC / MANITOBAPHOTOS.COM)
The bomb unit was called in Thursday after emergency crews responded to a fire in the 800 block of Marion Street.
The fire broke out at around 5 a.m. at Eastside Collision Repairs Ltd. Traffic was closed for about an hour as crews extinguished the fire.
While the Arson Strike Force was investigating, they located explosive material and called in the bomb unit. Area roads were closed for a few hours for public safety.
Roads were reopened at around noon. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
No word yet on a damage estimate.
