Bisons, Dinos Clash in Best-of-Three Playoff Series

March 2, 2012 8:00 AM | Sports

The Manitoba Bison men’s hockey team will play in two 2012 Canada West Semi-Final series matchups this weekend when they host Calgary.

The third-ranked Bisons have clinched first place in the Canada West conference in regular season standings — the first time that’s happened since the 1970-71 season.

Watch:

Manitoba sits with a 20-5-3 record to end the regular season, as well as hold 43 points. The fourth-ranked Calgary Dinos come to Winnipeg as part of a best-of-three series at Max Bell Arena, sitting one spot behind the Herd.

“We know we have a lot of hockey ahead of us,” Bisons head coach Mike Sirant said. “We’re very proud of what we achieved through the regular conference, but now what we do in the playoffs will really define our season. We’re ready for the challenge.”

Game 1 will get underway at 7 p.m. tonight, with a rematch on Saturday at the same time. If the Bisons and Dinos split the games, a third game is set for Sunday at 7 p.m.
