The Winnipeg Goldeyes have signed veteran outfielder Cristian Guerrero to the 2012 roster.

The 31-year-old spent the last four seasons playing with the Gary SouthShore RailCats. In 98 games last season, he hit .294 with 12 home runs and 82 RBI, which set a career-high for RBI in a season for him.

“He’s always hit well against us at Shaw Park and he enjoys playing in Winnipeg,” manager Rick Forney said. “You need veteran guys that can play every day. He’ll play right field, play a little DH and hit in the middle of our line up.”

Guerrero was originally signed by Milwaukee in 1997 and was an all-star at the Rookie level in 1999 and 2000 with Ogden in the Brewers’ system. He also spent time playing affiliated baseball with the Seattle Mariners, Anaheim Angels and Washington Nationals.

The Goldeyes now have 15 players signed for the 2012 season, including six pitchers and nine position players.
