To celebrate International Women’s Week, a popular cabaret of monologues will return that focuses on sharing the stories of Winnipeg women.
Sarasvàti Productions is presenting the monologues for the seventh time beginning tonight and continuing through Saturday.
“Our evening of monologues is our most popular event because audiences get a great night of entertainment,” said artistic director Hope McIntyre. “There are so many amazing women in Winnipeg now and in the past, so it promises to be a unique and truly Winnipeg celebration.”
The goal is to provide a broad range of voices, issues and styles that relate to women’s experiences. The Cabaret has worked with various women’s groups in the past to raise funds and awareness. The monologues represent the diverse voices of women covering the spectrum of humour and tragedy that women experience in their lives.
Two public performances are scheduled for tonight and Saturday at the Colin Jackson Studio inside Prairie Theatre Exchange, 3rd floor of Portage Place Shopping Centre at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be reserved by calling (204) 586-2236 or Sarasvati.ca.
