Chamber, Downtown Biz Holding Forum on Homelessness

March 14, 2012 7:50 AM | News

A breakfast forum focussed on discussing homelessness in Winnipeg will be held Thursday morning.

The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Downtown Winnipeg Biz, will host the event in support of the 5 Days For The Homeless campaign.

“The issue of homelessness in Winnipeg is often discussed and there are a number of initiatives under way, but our city still does not have a comprehensive homelessness strategy,” said Chamber president and CEO Dave Angus. “This breakfast will provide a forum to not only hear about some great initiatives but also what needs to be included in a comprehensive strategy for Winnipeg.”

Representatives from the Downtown Biz, CentreVenture, Winnipeg Poverty Reduction Council, and Resource Assistance for Youth (RAY) will speak.

The event will be held at the Winnipeg Free Press Café, 237 McDermot Avenue, from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Columnist Dan Lett will moderate the morning.
