Twitter was aflutter Thursday as word quickly began spreading that actor Ryan Gosling was in Winnipeg.

The “Hollywood heartthrob” was said to be on the cast of the Christmas-themed movie “Home Alone 5” (which he isn’t). But the loose rumours didn’t stop droves of people from scouting out the film shoot in the city’s Armstrong’s Point neighbourhood.

The ABC Family flick stars Malcolm McDowell, Debi Mazar, Edward Asner, Eddie Steeples, and Christian Martyn.

Film crews had their equipment lining the street of West Gate for most the day. Producers were hoping for snowy scenes, but with the mild weather, they’ve had to get creative. Large white tarps were seen spread out on the lawn of a home being used for the shoot to resemble snow.

Sources tell ChrisD.ca that filming will last for about three weeks before moving on to other locations.
