Generous pet lovers opened up their wallets on Sunday to help the Winnipeg Humane Society fund the many services it provides to local animals.
The IAMS 1001 Donations telethon/radiothon aired live on Shaw TV, Hot 103 and QX 104 to round up support for the pet shelter.
Students from Red River College helped put on this year’s broadcast, using the skills acquired through the Creative Communications program to produce the 10-hour event.
Humane Society CEO Bill McDonald said they hoped to achieve their goal of $70,000 this year. By 3 p.m., there were five confirmed pet adoptions, with many more potential adopters promising to return.
If you didn’t get a chance to make a donation yesterday, you can still do so securely online.
