About 3,800 residents in Fort Richmond were without power for several hours Monday night after a severe thunderstorm.
Watch:
Lightning struck a hydro pole in the south Winnipeg neighbourhood at about 9:15 p.m., after intense rain fell for roughly two hours prior. Firefighters were quick to respond and put out hotspots on the pole, located in an alley behind a housing complex off Pembina Highway.
At the James Richardson International Airport, crews working outside on the tarmac were forced to take cover due to heavy lightning and poor weather conditions.
Being the last official day of winter, the season definitely went out with a bang.
