Feist will open up the 39th annual Winnipeg Folk Festival this year, bringing her unique, award-winning sound to Birds Hill Provincial Park on July 4.

Juno award winner K’naan will perform on the evening of July 5 and will share the bill with Los Angeles-based Latino super group Ozomatli, who will make their Winnipeg debut. Past festival favourite and Winnipeg Folk Festival Artistic Achievement Award winner Billy Bragg is also scheduled to perform on stage Thursday.

Other acts include Jazz and Americana guitar legend Bill Frisell, who will perform a tribute to the late John Lennon, Philadelphia-based folk trio Good Old War, and the Tedeschi Trucks Band, making their first appearance at the festival. Fronted by husband and wife duo, Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks, TTB will bring their eleven-piece Grammy award-winning band to the festival on Friday.

Also on the bill is 2011 festival breakout act Matt Andersen, Texas lap steel guitar slinger Junior Brown, and British indie folk songstress Beth Orton.

Seattle indie folk-pop sensation The Head and the Heart will also make their Winnipeg debut.

“I’m ecstatic and grateful once again to be able to bring together an incredibly rich and diverse collection of folk artists for our audience to discover and enjoy,” said Winnipeg Folk Festival artistic director Chris Frayer.
