Two University of Winnipeg coaches have been named MCAC Coaches of the Year.
Women’s Soccer head coach Mick Gale and College Wesmen Men’s Volleyball head coach Josh Thordarson received the honour Monday from the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference for the 2011-2012 season.
Gale led the women’s soccer team to its second consecutive championship after posting a perfect 6-0 record during the regular season. Gale will be the head coach of the Wesmen Women’s Soccer Team this September when both the men’s and women’s programs start their first year of competition in the Canada West Conference of the CIS.
Thordarson coached the first year team to the MCAC Men’s Volleyball Championship in February. They defeated the five time defending champions Red River College in a five set thriller in the final.
