An upcoming seminar on managing diabetes will provide new information on research, treatments and strategies to fight the disease.
“Taking control of your diabetes: What’s in your toolkit?” will be led by HSC Nurse Manager Lori Berard on Sunday, April 29 at the Wellness Institute at Seven Oaks Hospital.
The three-hour seminar from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. will feature foot screenings, glaucoma tests, exhibits, raffles, samples, refreshments, and a $600 prize draw.
“Any time we help people understand their diabetes, we are providing them with more tools to be able to make choices in their self management,” Berard said. “Education is empowering and people with diabetes manage the disease by themselves 99.8% of the time.”
Tickets are selling fast and can be purchased at any Winnipeg Walmart Pharmacy or the Wellness Institute. Admission is by donation.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba and allocated to pediatric diabetes research.
