A 54-year-old Winkler man has drowned after the ATV he was riding broke through the ice on Cedar Lake.

The incident at Grand Rapids occurred at around noon on Monday when two men were ice fishing. The fisherman was pronounced deceased at the scene after RCMP recovered his body from the water.

The second man, who was also driving an ATV, was able to make it shore safely.

The name of the deceased will not be released.

RCMP are once again reminding the public that remaining ice found on provincial waterways is not safe for travel.
