Bernie Madoff will be the topic of discussion on Wednesday during a lecture on Ponzi schemes at the University of Manitoba.

Dr. Phelim Boyle of Wilfrid Laurier University will lead the event as part of the Robert and Elizabeth Knight Visiting Lecture series. Boyle’s lecture focuses on the infamous Ponzi scheme of Madoff, and how he managed to perpetrate his crime.

Boyle is internationally recognized for his contributions to financial engineering and actuarial science. He pioneered the use of the Monte Carlo method in finance for pricing derivatives and is a co-inventor of the Asian option.

The free public lecture will be held in the Robert B. Schultz Lecture Theatre at St. John’s College, 92 Dysart Road, beginning at 8 p.m.
