Transit riders will have an advance opportunity to ride the new Rapid Transit on Thursday before its official launch on April 8.
The city is offering free rides down the Southwest Transitway from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on April 5.
The 3.6 km Transitway will accommodate high-speed buses running on 13 different routes at up to 80 km/h.
“For the purposes of the special April 5 one-day, free ride offer, RT buses will operate every 15 minutes and will travel between Balmoral Station at the University of Winnipeg and Pembina Highway at Windermere via the Southwest Transitway,” said Dave Wardrop, Director of Transit.
Customers can also tour three new Transitway stations located at:
- Fort Rouge (in the Fort Rouge Yards)
- Osborne (on a new bridge over Osborne Street near Osborne Junction)
- Harkness (at Harkness and Stradbrook)
