MS Walk Has New City Route This Year

April 4, 2012 8:24 AM | News

Walkers will hit the pavement in just over a month from now as part of the Manitoba Lotteries MS Walk.

Registration for the event on Sunday, May 6 is filling up quickly, as walkers in the 20th annual fundraiser will don red T-shirts in support of fighting multiple sclerosis.

The walk has a new venue and route this year, beginning at the Max Bell Centre at the University of Manitoba. Participants will stroll through the university campus, down King’s drive, and into King’s Park.

A new 5 km Fun Run option is available this year for those who want more of a challenge. Registration is being handled through the Running Room.

Registration for the MS Walk can be made at MSwalks.ca or by calling (204) 943-9595. Organizers are also asking for volunteers.

On-site registration will begin at 8 a.m., with the walk following at 10 a.m.

Last year, the fundraiser brought in more than $455,000 from 2,000 Winnipeggers.
