Fire Destroys School on Sagkeeng First Nation

A fire on Sagkeeng First Nation has local officials scrambling to find an alternative school for about 300 students.

The fire broke out Sunday night in the rear of Anicinabe School just after 8 p.m.

RCMP say the extent of the damage isn’t known at this time.

The Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner will be investigating and no cause has been determined.

A damage estimate isn’t yet available.

Sagkeeng is about 125 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg.
