Manitoba Opera Wrapping Up Regular Season

April 10, 2012 8:02 AM | Entertainment

The Manitoba Opera will present its final production of the 2011-12 season during three days later this month.

“The Daughter of the Regiment” will play at the Centennial Concert Hall and include Canada’s “Queen of Comedy” Mary Walsh, who will join the cast in a speaking role as the outrageous and outspoken Duchess of Krackenthorp in this story about a feisty orphan adopted by a regiment of soldiers.

“We need a good laugh now and then, and this wonderful opera by Gaetano Donizetti provides that in spades,” said Larry Desrochers, Manitoba Opera general director and CEO. “It’s just plain fun, pure and simple.”

Performances run Saturday, April 21 at 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 24 at 7 p.m. and Friday, April 27 at 8 p.m.

Tickets range from $42 to $130 and are available by calling (204) 944-8824 or online to tickets.manitobaopera.mb.ca.
