Goldeyes Sign Two Right-Handed Pitchers

The Winnipeg Goldeyes have signed right-handed pitchers Dexter Carter and Clayton Shunick for the 2012 season.

Carter, 25, played last season with Single-A Kannapolis of the South Atlantic League in the Chicago White Sox organization. He went 3-5 with a 6.65 ERA in 14 games, including 12 starts, with Kannapolis.

Shunick, 25, split last season in the Cincinnati Reds organization between High-A Bakersfield of the California League and Double-A Carolina of the Southern League. In 31 games with Bakersfield, he went 3-3 with a 2.51 ERA and four saves.

The Goldeyes have also traded starting pitcher Isaac Hess to the Bridgeport Bluefish of the Atlantic League for future considerations and released pitchers Zach Baldwin and Aaron Hartsock and infielder Steve Singleton.
