Runners will hit the pavement today at Assiniboine Park in support of Camp Quality Manitoba.
From August 12-19, children living with cancer will put their illness in the back of their minds while they experience fun activities in a welcoming environment. Camp Quality is also a year-round program run by volunteers which works to lift the spirits of cancer patients.
The Puppet Program is another arm of the community-funded group, where life-size puppets visit nearly 17,000 children in local schools to encourage sensitivity about cancer and its effects.
The 5k and 10k walk/run begins at 9 a.m. at the Assiniboine Park Duck Pond.
