The youngest son of renowned illustrator Norman Rockwell will visit the Winnipeg Art Gallery’s exhibit in his father’s honour later this month.

Peter Rockwell’s own work has been in collections around the world, such as the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC, the Bridgeport Museum of American Art, and the Norman Rockwell Museum.

“American Chronicles: The Art of Norman Rockwell” began showing at the WAG on March 2 and has been an early success.

“While in Winnipeg, Rockwell will discuss both his own artistic practice as well and that of his father,” said Anna Wiebe, head of education for the gallery. “Having modeled for countless of his father’s Saturday Evening Post covers, who better to give insight into the life of Norman Rockwell?”

The public has two chances to meet Rockwell — April 25 from 12:10 p.m. to 1 p.m., and April 27 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Details on both events are available at WAG.ca.
