The Winnipeg Goldeyes have acquired the contract of pitcher Nick Carr from the Laredo Lemurs for a player to be named later, while signing relief pitcher Brian Leach.

Carr spent 2011 between the New York Mets’ Gulf Coast League team, Short Season-A Brooklyn of the New York/Penn League and Advanced-A St. Lucie of the Florida State League. The 25-year-old played in 30 games between the three stops, posting a 3-0 record, 2.27 ERA and nine saves.

“Carr has a power arm with mid 90s velocity,” Goldeyes manager Rick Forney said.

Leach played the last four seasons in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. He had a 7.93 ERA in 32 games between Advanced-A Bradenton of the Florida State League and Double-A Altoona of the Eastern League.

The Goldeyes also announced they have traded the contract of infielder/catcher Louis Ott to the Kansas City T-Bones for future considerations.

“We just don’t have room to give Ott the amount of at-bats he needs to play every day and be happy,” Forney said.
