Elmwood High School students will be exposed to the devastating personal and legal consequences of impaired driving during a presentation this morning.
MADD Canada will present its school assembly program, Damages, along with Manitoba Public Insurance. The program is touring the province to show students the impacts of getting behind the wheel while intoxicated.
Damages takes students into the courtroom to meet Jesse, a young man whose bright future and plans for university are put on hold as he goes on trial on charges of impaired driving causing death. The program transitions from Jesse’s fictional story to the real world impact of impaired driving through powerful and emotional testimonials from actual victims of this violent crime.
Justice Minister Andrew Swan, along with representatives from MADD and MPI, will be on hand for the 10 a.m. presentation.
