About 200 staff from 14 Aveda salons across Manitoba will participate in the sixth annual I Walk For Water event on Sunday in honour of Earth Day.
Rather than one day, staff are celebrating “Earth Month,” and will walk five kilometres — the same distance that it would take a woman to get clean drinking water in Africa.
Estheticians and stylists will begin their walk at 10:30 a.m. from the Aveda Institute at 80 Rorie Street. The walk will make its way down Portage Avenue to Memorial Boulevard ending up at The Forks, then back to Rorie Street at around noon.
Walkers have been collecting donations from guests, families and friends, who have also been invited to walk. Funds raised go to support WaterCan.
