Two non-profit Winnipeg organizations will benefit from $17,000 after Mayor Sam Katz’s State of the City address last month.

Ka Ni Kanichihk and Resource Assistance for Youth (RaY) received cheques for $8,500 each during a presentation at City Hall on Monday.

Half of the ticket proceeds from the annual Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce-sponsored event go to support local charities.

Each organization will also receive an additional $5,000 provided by Winnipeg businessman and philanthropist Albert El Tassi.
