Goldeyes Ink Pitcher, Infielder for 2012 Season

The Winnipeg Goldeyes have signed left-handed pitcher Fabian Williamson and infielder Kaohi Downing for the upcoming season.

Williamson, 23, played last season in the Oakland Athletics organization with Advanced-A Stockton of the California League and Double-A Midland of the Texas League. In 22 games between the two teams, which included 12 starts, Williamson went 3-6 with a 7.16 ERA.

Downing, 25, is coming off his first season as a position player after starting his career in the San Francisco Giants system as a pitcher. In 52 games with Short Season-A Salem-Keizer of the Northwest League last season, Downing hit .312 with a home run, 19 RBI and 11 stolen bases. He also appeared in three games with Triple-A Fresno of the Pacific Coast.
