City’s Annual Unclaimed Bike Auction This Weekend

The City of Winnipeg will auction off more than 700 unclaimed bicycles this weekend during its annual auction at the Varsity View Sportsplex.

About 450 bikes will be up for grabs on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. The public can view the available items between 7 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. On Sunday, about 300 bikes will be available for bid beginning at noon, with viewing taking place between 10 a.m. and 11:45 a.m.

The city has partnered with the Winnipeg Repair Education and Cycling Hub (WRENCH) to offer up to 200 bikes that have been tuned up by volunteer mechanics, and ready for the road.

Parking is $2 per vehicle, with all parking proceeds going to the Varsity View Community Club.

All bicycles are sold as is, where is, and no warranty is given nor implied. Cash, MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Interac payments will be accepted. Cheques will not be accepted. Buyers can also purchased a one-time bicycle registration for $5.60 plus GST.

The auction will be held at 4230 Ridgewood Avenue.
