Cancer Society Honours Those Who Overcame the Disease

April 27, 2012 7:56 AM | News

The Canadian Cancer Society will honour individuals over the noon hour today who have beaten cancer.

It’s all part of the last Daffodil Month event, where Manitobans tell the society why they’ve been wearing the daffodil pin during the month of April.

This year, 6,100 Manitobans will be diagnosed with cancer and every day eight people will lose their battle with the disease.

A giant daffodil “tribute wall” with more than 400 personal messages will provide other Manitobans with the opportunity to honour the special individuals who inspire them to wear the daffodil pin.

The event will begin at 12 p.m. in the courtyard of 201 Portage (corner of Portage Avenue and Notre Dame Street).
