Manitoba’s music industry is about to be examined under a microscope as part of a study.

Manitoba Music is partnering with international consulting firm Nordicity to launch “SoundCheck: An Economic Impact Study of Manitoba’s Music Industry.”

SoundCheck will provide data and analysis of the economic impact of the music industry on the provincial and national economies. Results from the study, which is being carried out in collaboration with a national study simultaneously led by the Canadian Independent Music Industry Association (CIMA), will be made public once complete. Results will be distributed to key industry stakeholders to demonstrate successes to date, and to strategize, influence, and implement necessary changes for the future of the evolving music industry.

“This study is a critical tool to help analyze the impact and scope of our diverse and ever-changing music industry,” said Sara Stasiuk, executive director of Manitoba Music. “The music industry’s participation in this study will help our sector grow, compete, and thrive.”

SoundCheck will will run throughout May.
